Red Corners

This project is an investigation of drivers. Specifically the space of time when drivers are at a red light. A simple yet voyeuristic task which resulted in a ambiguous and compelling piece of investigation. What interested me most is the repetitive nature of people in general, or what seems to be repetitive; forcing the observer (myself) to look even closer to notice the subtle differences between each captured moment.

During the whole process of capturing I had no idea what type of information I was looking for. I savored the simplistic nature of the task itself which resulted in a large quantity of data. It was only until reviewing and editing the footage did I begin to notice the little things. Even more so when the small effect of time lapsing or speeding up the film did I see the smaller bits of information quite clearly. An interesting design proposal could involve the usage of this time to give the driver vital information or tailored information. Perhaps this space of time could be utilized by advertisers.
