With our inevitable expansion into space, we will carry our baggage of systems, models, and biases. These recordings started as an exploration of merging two specific sound-making trends: tape loops and no-input mixing.
The tape loop is fed into a mixer where several channels of the mixer have been fed into itself. The work explores moving between the two sources in addition to the mixer processing the tape loop as part of the feedback.
The recordings explore the tension between the two sources and strive to assign the tape loop as colonial civilizations' natural ebb and flow. In contrast, the synthetic no-input feedback loops represent the chaotic and forceful power of colonial powers.
The track ends with the tape loop falling into submission and the inevitable adjustment of their timbre and key to a lower scale and slower loop rate.
