Summary
As Board Director and Technical Team Convener, I oversee the redesign and development of the Oregon Climate Action Hub (ORCAH) platform. ORCAH empowers all Oregonians to take effective climate action by providing tools to connect organizers, amplify opportunities, and engage new audiences. The updated platform mobilizes climate-concerned communities, grows the climate movement’s reach, and supports a just and livable future. Since the launch of the redesigned website in October, ORCAH has onboarded 30 partner organizations, streamlining their ability to share and collaborate on climate initiatives.
Objective
The primary objective of the new ORCAH website is to simplify and enhance the content creation process for liaisons representing partner organizations. By improving usability and efficiency, the platform fosters seamless collaboration and expands climate action accessibility across Oregon.
Approach
A comprehensive client intake process with the ORCAH Bridge Team identified key priorities. An analysis of issues compiled by the previous Technical Team Convener was reviewed, organized, and addressed. A concept review protocol was implemented with five participants in September and further refined the platform’s features. WordPress was selected as the foundation for the new site, supported by a streamlined information architecture and a Bootstrap-generated style guide for the minimum viable product. This iterative, user-centered approach ensures the platform meets the needs of ORCAH’s partners while maintaining flexibility for future growth.
